Frequently Asked Questions

  • Escape rooms are a lot of fun! An escape room is an immersive adventure game in which players must work together to find clues and solve puzzles to achieve an objective in the story of the game. Use cooperation, teamwork and thinking outside the box for your best chance of a successful escape!

  • Due to the historical nature of the site, Escape Camp Picton is not a barrier-free experience.

The parking area is unpaved, and players must cross uneven gravel and grass to access the building. The building itself has three stairs at the entrance and exit. Washroom facilities are non-gendered, non-accessible port-a-potties.

Our outdoor games are played on uneven terrain and involve activities of a physical/active nature. Most of the puzzles involve reading/sight and some involve hearing and speaking.

Once inside the building, the entire game experience is located on a single level with limited barriers for guests with mobility concerns (inquire about The Secret Guild if you use a mobility aid or wheelchair). Accommodations are available for players who cannot complete the limited physical requirements of the game.

The escape room games include visual, tactile and audio clues. Instructions are delivered orally – printed briefing notes are available for players with hearing loss.

Service animals are welcome. Support persons accompanying people with disabilities are entitled to a 50% discount (inquire by email).

We are happy to discuss individual accessibility needs and are eager to accommodate in any way we can. Please contact us to start a conversation. The nature of the games is that not all tasks will/must be completed by all players. Activities can be divided up based on the abilities of the players.

  • Escape Camp Picton is a unique, immersive escape room located at Base 31, a former WW2 air force training base. The site is steeped in history, and as the only remaining British Commonwealth Air Training Plan site in the world. With so many buildings still intact, it is one of Eastern Ontario’s most inspiring architectural heritage sites.

We have developed escape rooms inspired by the military training history of the site, integrating artifacts and reproductions into the design and decor. Escape Camp Picton is designed and operated by one of Prince Edward County’s most creative families with award-winning designers, experienced event producers, innovative fabricators and multi-media artists in their ranks.

  • BASE31 is a dynamic and ever changing historic site to visit. Please drop by the visitor centre at the main gate on your way in to see what is open during your visit or visit www.base31.ca for more details.

  • The Camp Picton site is a historical site, and as such it is not serviced with running water. We recommend using the washroom before coming to Escape Camp Picton as our washroom facilities are a single port-a-potty. Washrooms are NOT available between December and March. Refer to this map of public washrooms in Prince Edward County. In colder months, please dress in layers: the buildings are heated but drafty, and some players are more comfortable wearing sweaters and light jackets when playing.
